Parsons Sentenced to Prison
Glenn A. Parsons, 26, of Mountain Home, was sentenced to a minimum of
four years with a maximum of 15 years in prison for separate counts of
sexual abuse and sexual battery of a minor child, Attorney General
Lawrence Wasden said. Fourth District Judge Michael Wetherell ordered
Parsons to pay $5,000 in restitution. Parsons must also register as a
sex offender for life. Read

Rapp Sentenced for Insurance
Fraud
Cascade resident Morgan A. Rapp was sentenced yesterday for
one felony count of insurance fraud, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden
said. Fourth District Judge Michael Wetherell ordered Rapp to serve up
to 10 years in prison. The Court retained jurisdiction for 180 days.
Rapp was also ordered to pay $24,789 in restitution. Read

Marcus Young Pleads Guilty to Two Felony Charges
Marcus Young, 32, of Nampa pleaded guilty to two felony crimes. Young
pleaded guilty to one count of possession of sexually exploitive
material in violation of Idaho Code § 18-1507A(2) and one count of
destruction of evidence in violation of Idaho Code § 18-2603. Third
District Judge George D. Carey ordered a pre-sentence investigation and
a psychosexual evaluation. The court scheduled a sentencing hearing for
October 3.

Wasden Stops Deceptive Solicitation Practices by Three Telemarketers
A California charity must stop telephone fundraising in Idaho and two
other telemarketers must change their business practices, Attorney
General Lawrence Wasden announced. Those are among the terms of legal
settlements with the Coalition of Police and Sheriffs (“COPS”), Elite

Wasden Obtains $1.7 Million in Drug Pricing Settlement
Drug manufacturers Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and Apothecon, Inc.,
will pay Idaho more than $1.7 million dollars in a legal settlement
resolving Idaho’s certain claims relating to the marketing and selling
of prescription drugs and the companies’ reporting of “average wholesale
price,” Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Read

Wasden Stops Two Companies from Sending Unsolicited Faxes to Idaho
A consent judgment requires Florida company SunStar Travel
and Tours, Inc., to stop sending unsolicited faxes into Idaho, Attorney
General Lawrence Wasden announced. The travel company must also
reimburse the Attorney General’s costs and fees and pay restitution. A
$15,000 civil penalty is held in abeyance pending SunStar Travel and
Tours’ compliance with the consent judgment.

MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc., Settles with Wasden
MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc., entered into a settlement agreement
with Idaho responding to concerns about scam artists’ use of the
company’s wire transfer services, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden
announced. MoneyGram will also fund a $1.1 million national consumer
awareness program and include prominent warnings on the forms that
consumers complete to wire money. Read

Attorney General Wasden joined Governor
C.L. “Butch” Otter on July 1 to announce that the State of Idaho and
the U.S. Department of Energy had agreed upon a plan to clean up
buried transuranic waste at the INL. Former Governors Phil Batt and
Cecil Andrus attended to voice their endorsement of the agreement.

Prices in Idaho
The Idaho Legislature’s Interim Committee on Energy,
Environment and Technology invited the Attorney General’s Office to
discuss current issues relating to the high price of gasoline. Deputy
Attorney General Brett DeLange, Chief of the Consumer Protection
Division, spoke to the committee and delivered a written report on June
25.
