Idaho Receives $114,826 in Medicaid Fraud Settlement
The State of Idaho, Division of Medicaid, received $114,826 from a
settlement reached with Aventis Pharmaceutical, Inc., Attorney General
Lawrence Wasden said. The settlement resolves allegations that Aventis
knowingly misreported the lowest prices for nasal sprays Azmacort,
Nasacort and Nasacort AQ. |
Wasden Reaches Settlement with VONAGE
Idahoans who experienced difficulties cancelling their
VONAGE Voice over Internet Protocol service may be eligible for refunds
as part of a $3 million multistate settlement, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. The settlement with VONAGE also requires the company
to make significant changes to its marketing practices, honor consumer
cancellation requests and provide refunds to eligible consumers.

Debt Relief Coming for Some Silver State Helicopters Students
36 Idaho students of a bankrupt helicopter training school will receive
nearly $1.5 million in debt relief from student loans as a result of a
legal settlement, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Students who
borrowed from Student Loan Xpress and were enrolled at Silver State
Helicopters at the time the school shut down will receive the benefits
of the settlement negotiated by Wasden’s Consumer Protection Division.

Idaho Reaches $13 Million Settlement with Eli Lilly
The State of Idaho has reached a $13 million settlement with
pharmaceutical manufacturer Eli Lilly and Company, Attorney General
Lawrence Wasden said. The settlement resolves the state’s allegations
that Eli Lilly engaged in deceptive marketing of the anti-psychotic drug
Zyprexa and failed to warn health care providers of serious side
effects, resulting in significant costs to Idaho Medicaid. The monetary
payment is the state’s largest financial recovery under the Idaho
Consumer Protection Act, other than the 1998 tobacco settlement.

Jennifer Fisher Sentenced for Insurance Fraud
Jennifer A. Fisher, 36, was sentenced for insurance fraud
and grand theft yesterday, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Third
District Judge Juneal Kerrick sentenced Fisher to three to seven years
in prison and fined her $1,000. The court suspended the sentence and the
fine and retained jurisdiction for 180 days.

International Mail Fraud Scheme Identified
The Idaho Department of Insurance and Attorney General Wasden are
warning Idahoans of an international mail fraud scheme and to be on the
alert and protect themselves from becoming victims of fraud.

Former Insurance Agent Sentenced for Perjury
Kenneth Dale Sloan, 51, of Meridian, was sentenced for the crime of
perjury, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Fourth District Judge
Patrick Owen ordered Sloan to serve up to 10 years in prison, with one
year fixed. The judge also retained jurisdiction over Sloan’s case for
180 days.

Robie Probasco Sentenced for Grand Theft and Money Laundering
Robie K. Probasco was sentenced for grand theft and money laundering,
Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Fifth District Judge Richard
Bevan ordered Probasco to serve up to 16 years in prison with four years
fixed. The judge also ordered him to pay his former employer $499,893 in

State Announces Second Settlement with Pfizer to Change Marketing of
Geodon and Pay States $33 Million
The State of Idaho will receive $489,448 as a result of a settlement
with Pfizer Inc. related to the alleged improper marketing of the
antipsychotic drug Geodon, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden said. Wasden
joined with the attorneys general of 42 other states in negotiating the
settlement, which is subject to court approval. This is a separate
settlement from the Medicaid fraud settlement announced yesterday.
