ProtecTeens

ProtecTeens is a video presentation and resource kit created to educate parents about the potential danger to their children from sexual predators on the Internet.

There is evidence that thousands of Idaho children receive unwanted sexual material or solicitations over the Internet every year. Our law enforcement community has been extremely successful in tracking down, arresting and locking up many of these sexual predators. I hope that ProtecTeens will help parents understand the magnitude of the dangers, and take an active role in protecting their children from Internet predators.

The following links will give you a variety of ways to help keep your children safe.

This video was developed with Secretary of State Ben Ysursa to help Idahoans learn about the dangers of sexual Internet predators.  Our partnership with other state and local agencies include the Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association, the Sheriff’s Association, the Chiefs of Police Association, the Medical Association, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the School Boards Association, the Association of School Administrators, the Idaho Parent Teacher Association, Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna, and Governor Butch Otter and First Lady Lori Otter.

On April 11, 2007, Attorney General Wasden joined U.S. Attorney for Idaho Tom Moss to kick off Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice initiative to protect children from Internet sexual predators and child pornographers. Project Safe Childhood includes two TV public service announcements and improved federal, state and local prosecution of Internet sex crimes against children.  Read news release from U.S. Attorney Tom Moss.

Frequent Internet users, including many young people, have developed their own shorthand language to save time typing and hide the real meaning of their messages from others.
